Oxidation & Wine
Once a bottle of wine is opened, the wine comes into contact with oxygen and will begin the chemical reaction known as oxidation. This process cannot be stopped once a bottle is opened, but it can be slowed down.
If you've ever left a half-empty bottle on the counter for a few days, then tasted the wine again, you've encountered oxidation in wine first hand. Winemakers go to great lengths to protect the wine from oxygen before bottling.
Once the bottle is opened, the skybar® Wine System uses vacuum technology to remove the oxygen from the bottle, preserving the wine for up to 10 days. This allows you to pour and enjoy one glass at a time at the perfect varietal-specific serving temperature. Vacuum technology naturally removes oxygen from the wine without introducing foreign substances and does not require cartridges.
